Have you ever wanted something so badly?
My manuscript for All We Never Wanted is finished. I personally think it’s a great story, destined to make you laugh, cry, scream at the injustices of the world, and ultimately root for my two main characters, estranged sisters Elle and Leah.
But now this story is out of my hands. I have entered the twisted world of querying. A query letter is a very tightly written formulaic plea to an agent to fall in love with your book. And did I mention it’s only 400 words maximum? An intro, a hook, a short premise, and a bio is all you get to make other people-super smart, well read people- love your story too.
You send off your query letters and the first ten or so pages of your work and you pray like mad that some agent will come along and understand you, ready to champion your story to those who really need to be woo-ed, the publishers. The process is long, and filled with roller coaster like ups and downs, and waiting-oh so much waiting.
Luckily, I realize, that just like my characters, I am going to have to sit with my discomfort as I wait for my fairy godmother/godfather to wave their magic wand and usher me into the great wide world of publishing, making my dreams come true.
Might not be today, probably won’t be tomorrow, but it will happen. I have no choice but to believe that as I put my book baby out into the world.
So here is to Manifesting ALL WE NEVER WANTED into existence.
BELIEVE!
