Anne Lamott says in Bird by Bird, “Almost all good writing begins with terrible first efforts.  You just have to start somewhere.”  Boy does that feel just about right now.  I’m having difficulty getting what I hear in my head down onto paper.  It just doesn’t feel/read the same.  So I’ve been doing a lot of journaling and attending a Novel Writing class online through The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, MN.  I’m trying to get up the courage to workshop the first chapter of the novel I’m writing, but I just haven’t quite gotten there yet, despite a really supportive instructor and a great group of peers.  For some reason I just feel behind the others at this point.  I’ll probably be ready to workshop my writing in the next class I take.  Hopefully.  The writing is hard enough.  Sharing it is a whole other level!
